Frequently Asked Questions

Important Aurelia Cloud Backup cost benefits compared to traditional backup

No data center heating, cooling or power required. No backup server hardware required. No courier services required for transporting backup media to secondary offsite locations. No remote office or offsite backup storage location required. No removable disk, tape backup servers or media required. No consulting or labor costs incurred for rack/stack/install/configure/training of any traditionally hosted, premise based backup solution, inclusive of all the above. No annual maintenance or support agreements that can cost a large enterprise tens of thousands of dollars or more. No capacity licensing or CPU core licensing that can also cost a large enterprise tens of thousands of dollars or more. With Aurelia Cloud Backup, TCO is based on a monthly subscription model saving you tens of thousands of dollars and superior to traditional per terabyte capacity based or per core based license models.

Can Aurelia Cloud Backup make application consistent backups?

Aurelia Cloud Backup supports application consistency, allowing you to take VSS-enabled EBS snapshots of your running Windows instances without the need to create custom scripts, or shutting down those instances ahead of time. Otherwise, backups are in what’s known as a crash-consistent state, referring to the fact that the backup is the same as at the instant leading up to the server crashing or being powered off or reset. In other words, all data within a crash-consistent backup is captured at exactly the same time. This is the most common method used and is almost always sufficient for applications that do not rely on a database. Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) supports Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy Services (VSS) enabled EBS snapshots for Windows Server AMIs. VSS is a Microsoft technology that allows application data to be backed up while applications are still running, by coordinating between user applications that update data on disk and those that back up applications.

What kind of advanced security does Aurelia Cloud Backup provide?

Above and beyond AWS best practices, encryption at rest and in-transit, Amazon GuardDuty and AWS web application firewall (WAF) integration, Aurelia Cloud Backup provides a machine learning and artificial intelligence module in creating and analyzing patterns and anomalies of network traffic between instances, as well as performance (CPU, Memory, Disk I/O and Storage) trends and deviations for increased security. Aurelia Cloud Backup's machine learning and AI algorithms trigger backups of any instance when unusual network activity or performance is detected, ensuring your backup is protected with an added layer of prevention against ransomware, since infection is usually preceded by infrastructure related network and performance anomalies. Aurelia Cloud Backup's Machine Learning and AI algorithms can also trigger other events such as notifications, stop/start of the instance(s), block the traffic between the instances, AV scans and more.

Is there a cost, when new features become available?

When a new product version containing new features is made available, we will send a notification to current customers with release notes and upgrade instructions. New core product releases (not customized) do not carry any additional charges for new features or enhancements.

How do I purchase? How am I billed for using Aurelia Cloud Backup?

Based on your infrastructure size and needs, we can select the subscription that’s right for you based on the number of EC2 instances and other AWS infrastructure objects.

Does the trial version of Aurelia Cloud Backup have all features?

Yes. The trial version is fully feature enabled and you can use it for up to 14 days before being prompted to upgrade to the paid version.

Is the free trial really free?

Aurelia Cloud Backup offers a 14 day free trial based on two AWS instances so that your organization can determine if it is a good fit.
